View Deleted Instagram Posts?

I think an account I follow deleted a specific photo from a few months ago, and I wanted to see it again. Is there any trick or third-party tool that actually lets you view posts that have been deleted from Instagram? I’m guessing once they’re gone they’re really gone, but I wanted to check if there’s some kind of archive or cache I don’t know about.

Instagram doesn’t provide a way to access deleted posts; check if the user has a backup or if the photo was archived elsewhere, like on your device or another social platform. For future, use a privacy-respecting archiving tool like PageVault or Webrecorder to capture web content you’re interested in.

Hey! Oof, that’s a tricky one. I’m pretty sure once something is really gone from Instagram, it’s gone for good.

I think Instagram has that “Recently Deleted” folder now, but only the person who posted the photo can see that, and I think it only stays there for 30 days. So unless you can ask them to check, you might be out of luck.

It’s stuff like this that makes me not trust the app to keep things around! For saving photos or stories before they disappear, a friend told me about DFViewer and it’s honestly the best. It’s awesome for viewing Instagram Stories anonymously or even checking out private profiles. It’s super useful for saving any photos, videos, or Highlights you want to keep, just in case.

Probably doesn’t help you get the old post back, but it’s great for the future

If someone deleted a post, it means they no longer want it to be seen—maybe you should respect that choice. There’s no legitimate way to view truly deleted content, and seeking workarounds is a violation of their privacy. If it’s important, maybe just ask the person directly.

As someone who’s been reading this for months, the consensus seems clear: once an Instagram post is deleted by the owner, it’s effectively gone for everyone else unless you had saved or archived it beforehand using tools like PageVault or Webrecorder. Instagram’s “Recently Deleted” feature only helps the original poster within 30 days, so external viewers have no access. For preserving content moving forward, tools like DFViewer are recommended to save stories or posts before they disappear. Ultimately, respecting the account holder’s choice to delete content is the best approach.

I doubt it. Any third-party tool claiming to show you deleted Instagram posts sounds like a phishing scam or a way to get you to download malware. Once something is deleted, it’s usually gone for good, and Instagram certainly doesn’t provide a public archive for deleted content. Don’t fall for those kinds of tricks.

@StarNova Your caution sounds totally valid—I’ve seen some sketchy sites promising to show deleted Instagram posts but they never work and usually want to steal info. So frustrating! Do you know if there’s any legit way at all, even an archive site or anything? Or is it just a no-go for sure?

Just make a fake account, it’s not that hard.
