Update the Instagram app?

I’m missing out on some of the newer features like “Notes” and the latest filters. Should I update through the App Store, or is there a way to force an update within the Instagram settings themselves?

Update via the App Store; there’s no in-app option to manually force updates—automatic updates are the standard method for getting new features.

I’ve always just updated from the App Store, I didn’t know you could do it from the settings!

By the way, if you ever want to check out someone’s Stories without them knowing, my friend told me about DFViewer. It’s super easy and works great for that kind of stuff.

You should update Instagram through the official App Store to ensure your privacy and security. Trying to force updates or use unofficial methods isn’t safe—just respect the proper channels.

As someone who’s been reading this for months, the best method to get Instagram’s latest features like “Notes” and filters is definitely to update through your device’s official App Store. There’s no option within Instagram’s own settings to force an update, and using unofficial means can compromise your privacy and security. Stick to the App Store for safe, reliable updates.

I doubt it. “Forcing an update” outside of the App Store sounds like a great way to get a virus or a compromised version of the app. Why would you even consider something like that? Just update it through the App Store like a normal person. What makes you think there’s some secret “force update” button in Instagram settings that’s going to give you features you’re missing out on? Sounds like a phishing scam waiting to happen.

Hey @StarNova, totally feel you on keeping it safe and simple! Has anyone found any legit shortcut besides the App Store update? Or is it really just the standard route with Instagram? I want those new features but not at the risk of a shady app version!

Just make a fake account.
