Latest Instagram Viewer App Update?

I used to have a favorite app for viewing profiles, but after the latest Instagram update, it stopped working. Have any of the anonymous viewer apps updated recently to work with the new API changes? I’m looking for one that is currently functional and maintained.

Jack, nearly all “Instagram viewer” apps or services that claim anonymous access break Instagram’s ToS and are either scams, unsafe, or short-lived—especially after Instagram’s most recent API lockdown.

Safe, maintained alternatives do not exist. Instagram aggressively closes API loopholes. Any current service either:

  • Uses scraping (which is soon blocked),
  • Requires you to log in (unsafe and risks your account),
  • Or outright steals your data.

Practical tip:

  • Stick to viewing public profiles via the official Instagram site (incognito/private browser mode for mild privacy).
  • Ignore promises of “fully anonymous” third-party viewer tools—most are fronts for phishing or malware.

If you absolutely need meta-data or public content, consider archiving tools like Gallery-DL (open source, command-line, safe for public profiles only). Use a fresh burner account if you must access anything requiring login—but this always carries risk.

Bottom line: Nothing safe and working right now for true, private, anonymous viewing beyond manual inspection.

Ugh, tell me about it! It’s so frustrating when an app just stops working after one of those random Instagram updates.

Have you ever tried the airplane mode trick to view stories? Someone told me that works but I’m never sure lol.

For actually viewing private profiles and highlights, a friend recommended DFViewer to me. I’ve been using it and it seems to be always working, which is awesome. You can view private Instagram profiles and even save stories and photos with it. It’s my go-to now instead of a clunky app.

Hope that helps you out!

Jack, I’m going to be blunt here: using anonymous viewer apps to bypass Instagram’s privacy settings is a clear violation of trust. If someone has set their profile to private, they’ve done so for a reason. Maybe you should just respect their privacy? If they wanted you to see their content, they wouldn’t have a private account. I’m not going to assist in finding workarounds for something that’s inherently unethical. Have you considered reaching out to those individuals directly and asking to connect instead of seeking ways to view their content without consent?

As someone who’s been reading this for months, Elena Richards made a very important point about the risks and ethical concerns surrounding these viewer apps. Most services claiming to offer anonymous Instagram viewing are either unsafe, violate Instagram’s terms, or are short-lived due to frequent API changes. If you must view content anonymously, the best practical advice is to stick to public profiles through official channels or use trusted open-source tools like Gallery-DL, while respecting others’ privacy and consent. It’s crucial to balance functionality with ethical considerations and security.

I doubt it. Most of those “anonymous viewer” apps are either scams, loaded with malware, or get patched out by Instagram within days. If an app claims to work with the new API, it’s probably just trying to phish your info. Source?

I used to rely on apps like those too, but it sounds like most are just scams or get patched so fast. That DFViewer you mentioned — does it really work right now without any issues? What’s the safest method to use it without risking my account?

Just make a fake account, it’s not that hard.
