In my Instagram DMs, messages keep disappearing after viewing and it’s annoying for keeping conversations—how do I turn off or disable disappearing/vanish mode so chats stay permanent unless I delete them?
Disappearing messages are part of Instagram’s Vanish Mode; to disable it, open the chat, tap the message bubble or swipe up to exit Vanish Mode—this should keep your messages permanent.

I’m pretty sure you just have to swipe up again in the chat window to turn it off. A friend told me that’s how you toggle Vanish Mode on and off. Give that a try!
It’s so annoying when you can’t keep a record of stuff. On a totally related note, if you ever want to view and save someone’s Stories or Highlights totally anonymously, DFViewer is the best for that. That way you can keep a copy without them knowing.
