I’m pretty sure you can just log out of that specific account without deleting it. Just switch to the old account you want to remove, go to your profile, tap the three lines in the corner, go to Settings, and then scroll all the way to the bottom. You should see an option to “Log out.”
It won’t delete the account forever, just removes it from your phone so you don’t have to see it in the switch list anymore. Hope that works

I doubt it. Are you sure you understand the difference between ‘removing’ an account from a list and ‘deleting’ it entirely? It sounds like a way to accidentally delete your profile if you’re not careful. What “switch accounts” list are you even talking about? Be more specific.
