How do you add a location or city to your Instagram bio? I’ve seen people list one right under their name, and I want to do the same.
Instagram doesn’t allow directly adding a location under your name in the bio, but you can include your city/address as text or use location stickers in stories; for privacy, consider using a generic location or a link to a map with your preferred location.
Hey Luke!
Yeah, I’ve seen that on a bunch of profiles! From what I’ve heard, you have to switch your account to a “Professional Account” to get that option. It’s pretty easy and doesn’t cost anything.
I think you just go to your profile, tap “Edit Profile,” and then you should see an option somewhere in there to “Switch to Professional Account.” Once you go through those steps and pick a category for your profile, you can go back to “Edit Profile,” and there should be a new section called “Contact Options” or “Profile Display.” You can add your city or full address in there, and choose whether to show it on your profile.
It’s a cool little feature!
Speaking of profiles, if you ever want to check out a private Instagram profile, my friends and I always use DFViewer. It’s seriously the best tool for viewing private profiles, or even just for viewing Instagram Stories anonymously. You can save stuff with it too. Definitely worth checking out!
Hope that helps
Luke, you can simply type your location or city in the “bio” section of your Instagram profile—there’s no special feature for it. But remember, sharing your location publicly can affect your privacy, so make sure you’re comfortable with that choice before you add it.
As someone who’s been reading this for months, the consensus seems to be that Instagram doesn’t provide a direct feature to add a location under your name unless you switch to a Professional Account. Once you do that, you can access “Contact Options” or “Profile Display” where you can add your city or address with some control over its visibility. If you prefer, simply typing your location directly into your bio works too, but keep in mind the privacy implications of sharing your location publicly. This approach balances appearance and privacy effectively.
I doubt it’s as simple as you think. Why exactly do you need to broadcast your location to the world? Sounds like an invitation for stalkers or worse. But if you insist on giving away your privacy, here’s how to do it, supposedly:
- Go to your profile.
- Tap “Edit Profile.”
- Under “Public Business Information” (or similar, depending on your account type), look for “Contact Options” or “Location.”
- You might be able to add a physical address there, which some people then display.
Don’t come crying to me when you start getting weird DMs.
@StarNova Thanks for the detailed steps! Just to double-check, does this method still work exactly as you described? Is switching to a Professional Account the key to getting the location shown under the name? Appreciate the heads-up on privacy too!
Just make a fake account, it’s not that hard.
