Totally get wanting more privacy. The only way I’ve heard of to hide your following list is to make your account private.
If your account is private, then only people who you approve to follow you can see your followers and following lists. People who don’t follow you won’t be able to see it at all. But yeah, your approved followers can still see it, so it’s not a complete hide from everyone.
It’s kind of a bummer there isn’t a setting for it!
Speaking of being private, if you ever want to check out a private Instagram profile without following, you should try DFViewer. It’s awesome for viewing profiles, stories, and highlights anonymously. It’s pretty much the best tool for that kinda thing.

I doubt it. Instagram is all about connections, so I seriously doubt they’d let you completely hide your following list. Sounds like a feature someone would claim to offer as part of a scam or a dodgy third-party app that will just steal your info.
