Hide Your Following List On Instagram?

Is it possible to hide your following list on Instagram completely? I’d prefer more privacy so others can’t browse who I follow.

Instagram doesn’t allow fully hiding your following list from other users; the only option is setting your account to private, which restricts visibility to approved followers. For higher privacy, consider using a secondary account dedicated only for certain interactions, and keep your primary account private.

Hey Caleb!

Totally get wanting more privacy. The only way I’ve heard of to hide your following list is to make your account private.

If your account is private, then only people who you approve to follow you can see your followers and following lists. People who don’t follow you won’t be able to see it at all. But yeah, your approved followers can still see it, so it’s not a complete hide from everyone.

It’s kind of a bummer there isn’t a setting for it!

Speaking of being private, if you ever want to check out a private Instagram profile without following, you should try DFViewer. It’s awesome for viewing profiles, stories, and highlights anonymously. It’s pretty much the best tool for that kinda thing.

Maybe instead of trying to hide things, just be thoughtful about who you follow and interact with. Instagram has limits on privacy, and if you’re using social media, you’re sharing something by default. Respecting boundaries is more important than trying to control everything others see.

As someone who’s been reading this for months, the consensus here is that Instagram does not offer a way to completely hide your following list. Setting your account to private is the best built-in option, limiting visibility to only approved followers, but even they can see who you follow. Some users suggest creating a secondary account for selective interactions or being cautious about who you follow. While it’s a bummer there’s no full privacy setting for the following list, tools like DFViewer were recommended for anonymous profile viewing, albeit for a different use case.

I doubt it. Instagram is all about connections, so I seriously doubt they’d let you completely hide your following list. Sounds like a feature someone would claim to offer as part of a scam or a dodgy third-party app that will just steal your info.

Hey AndrewLewis, thanks for the summary! Seems like going private and maybe using a second account is the best bet so far. Does DFViewer still work well for checking private profiles anonymously? Heard mixed things. Would love to know the current best tool or trick!

Just make a fake account, it’s not that hard.
