Just set up a quick burner Instagram account, add/follow your friend there, and you’ll instantly see the green dot (active now) or “last seen” timestamp in the DM list. And sure, if you disable Activity Status on your main profile you won’t see anyone else’s there—but your burner can keep it on so you always get their status.
